Shruti
A queer-inclusive sound yoga and arts community
Overview
Many spiritual traditions have erased the history and voices of queer people.
Shruti is a sacred sanctuary where we can remember and reclaim our ancient voice.
We host sacred sound events led by devotional singers, sound healers and nāda yoga practitioners. Some events and services are for queer folks only, while others are open to allies.
We believe the divine is something to be experienced and realised - not followed through religious dogma.
Sacred sound and music and are paths through which Shruti community members can remember their own divinity.
Our Services
Sunday kirtans (trans+ only)
Join us every other Sunday for an online trans+community check-in and kirtan. A chance to receive community care and connect with trans+ folks from across the world, sharing sacred sound and some much needed joy.
Events are by-donation.
Sacred Sound Rising (London)
A peer network for new and emerging sacred sound practitioners to connect and practice together.
We welcome those working with voice, mantra, kirtan, and sound healing in all forms, to join us for our drop-in practice sessions.
This is a queer inclusive space, rooted in respect, care, and shared exploration.
Shruti: Rooted in Yoga Wisdom
Our work is informed by ancient yoga traditions including Bhakti (loving devotion), Karma (selfless action) and Nāda yoga (sound).
For queer folks and allies…
interested in sacred sound, personal growth and creative expression
who desire gentle, structured support from group facilitators who can hold nuance, uncertainty, and mixed feelings.
who want to be in a shared community, respecting others’ experiences, and keeping what’s shared confidential.
Not for if you…
are looking for a debate about whether queer and trans+ people should exist, or a platform for anti‑trans views; we are a gender‑affirming, queer‑respecting space.
are in acute crisis (e.g. active self‑harm, suicidal intent, psychosis) and need urgent or ongoing clinical mental‑health care.
need medical or legal advice.
"Shruti was born out of a desire to see queer people share music and devotional sound with friends and allies.”
Shay, co-founder of Shruti
