Shruti Collective
A women and non-binary led devotional music community
Overview
We believe the divine is something to be experienced and realised - not received as dogma. Devotional art and music are ways to become instruments of the divine, letting our unique creative gifts flow through us.
Shruti is a sacred sanctuary for women, non-binary folks and allies, to connect spiritually through devotional music and art gatherings, online and in the UK. Our events are sober and queer and trans+ inclusive.
Our aim is to use devotional sound, music and art to build bridges between people and cultures that are separated by labels and borders, by working with inclusive, community-orientated musicians.
We invite devotional music from global mystical traditions, from kirtan and Buddhist mantra, to Sufi qawwali music and modern twists on bhajans, mantra and more.
Community Offerings
Shruti Choir
A peer community for women and non-binary devotional musicians and singers, where we can support one another's journeys, co-host events together, and amplify our music and work - so more people can discover the power of devotional music for themselves.
We host networking events, podcast-style interviews, and provide opportunities for members to showcase their gifts at events across the UK.
This is a queer and trans+ inclusive group.
Shruti Sound Circle (London)
A peer community for new and emerging sound practitioners to connect and practice together. We welcome all levels of experience working with voice, sound, mantra, kirtan, sound healing and devotional music.
Where possible, we spotlight an experienced musician, who shares their wisdom with the community.
This is a queer and trans+ inclusive space, open to all folks, with discounts for Shruti Choir members.
Sunday Kirtans (queer and trans+ only)
Join us on Sunday’s for an online queer and trans+ community check-in and kirtan. A chance to receive care, connect with folks from across the world and share kirtan together.
Events are by-donation. Register here and sign-up to our newsletter for announcements.
Our work is informed by ancient yoga traditions including Bhakti (loving devotion), Karma (selfless action) and Nāda yoga (sound).

who want to be in a shared community, respecting others’ experiences, and keeping what’s shared confidential.
Not for if you…
are looking for a debate about whether queer and trans+ people should exist, or a platform for anti‑trans views; we are a gender‑affirming, queer‑respecting space.
are in acute crisis (e.g. active self‑harm, suicidal intent, psychosis) and need urgent or ongoing clinical mental‑health care.
need medical or legal advice.
"Shruti was born out of a desire to see queer people share music and devotional spaces with friends and allies.”
